The University of Turku on Wednesday has decided to terminate the employment contract of American Professor Dr Christian Ott, according to an official press release.

A professor left the California Institute of Technology after a university investigation found that he engaged in gender-based discrimination and harassment, reported National broadcaster Yle.

Earlier, the Turku University authority appointed Dr Ott on a fixed-term employment contract for two years as a senior researcher starting at the beginning of March, said the press release issued by the Turku University authority.

“I have considered the matter and decided that the employment of Dr Christian Ott to the University of Turku will be cancelled. I came to this conclusion after extensively hearing the science community,” said Rector of the University of Turku Kalervo Väänänen.
