Bouquets: Right diagnosis, care helps patient

Right diagnosis, care helps patient

I would like to thank Dr Surendra Kumar Mantoo at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for his excellent clinical judgment and surgical skills in treating my stage 2 colon cancer.

He deduced I might have a circumferential tumour, even though the computed tomography (CT) scan results were normal. Without his strong suggestion, I might not have gone for a colonoscopy and thus got the right diagnosis.

With his excellent surgical skills and the loving care of the nurses in Ward 62, I managed to go home on the third day after a key-hole surgery, even though I am 82 years old.

Now I am doing well and my cancer marker is down to normal. I am happy that I can celebrate the 2018 Chinese New Year in such a great state.

Thank you, Dr Surendra and the Ward 62 nurses, for the excellent job.

Kind assistance when feeling unwell

I want to express my gratitude to the kind stranger and SMRT staff at the Tan Kah Kee station, who helped me on Jan 19.

I was on my way to work, when I felt extremely unwell on the train. A young woman was kind enough to inform the SMRT staff on duty at that station, who provided me with assistance and attention while I waited for a family member to pick me up.

Thank you so much.
