Pune: The Chatushrungi police have registered an offence against a 30-year-old man from Pimple Gurav for outraging the modesty of a woman who had borrowed Rs15,000 from him.
The woman stated in her complaint that when she failed to repay the suspect, he molested her and threatened to kill her husband.

The suspect has been booked under section 354 (outraging modesty), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.

A Chatushrungi police officer said the woman and the suspect knew each other. A few months ago, the woman had borrowed Rs15,000 from him. "For the past two months, the suspect was pursuing the woman for his money," the officer said.

When the woman failed to repay him, the suspect went to her house at Balewadi on Monday and beat her up. "The suspect also threatened to harm her husband and outraged her modesty while allegedly recording the incident on his cellphone," the officer said.

The woman later informed her husband about the matter and they filed a police complaint on Tuesday. "We are yet to arrest the man," the officer added.
