A 55-year-old woman was killed by her drug addict son over a family feud in Sadar upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased, Amena Khatun, wife of Mujaher Sheikh, was a resident of Alipur area in the district town.
Locals said Amena's son Akkas Sheikh, 28, used to torture her for money to buy drugs.
An altercation took place when Amena refused to give money that Akkas demanded from her around 11:00am.
At one stage, Akkas hit his mother on the head with a stick, leaving her critically injured.
Neighbours rushed her to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.
Office-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Md Nazim Uddin said Akkas came out of jail on bail a few days ago in connection with a case filed for drug abuse.
