PEORIA — A South Peoria man was ordered held Wednesday on $150,000 bond for shooting at another person's car last month on Peoria's East Bluff.
Jarvis D. Logan, 23, of 810 S. Western Ave. appeared in Peoria County Circuit Court on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in connection with the Jan. 28, incident in the 700 block of East Behrends Avenue.
Judge Albert Purham Jr. also set a March 8 preliminary hearing though it is likely a grand jury will hear the case before then.
According to prosecutor Dave Kenny, the victim was in his car when he looked back and saw Logan on a bike. The victim told police he saw Logan fire a handgun at him. Later, police found 13 shell casings in the area. No one was hurt but the car's rear bumper was struck by a bullet, the prosecutor said in open court.
He wasn't arrested until Tuesday. If convicted of both charges, he faces up to 15 years behind bars.
A week before the shooting, on Jan. 22, Logan and another man allegedly went to the automotive center at Walmart, 3315 N. University St., where they punched a man. Logan was also charged with aggravated battery. He also was in court Wednesday in that case and ordered held on $20,000. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison on that charge.
In 2013, Logan was sentenced to seven years in prison for armed robbery, which was the basis for the charge of unlawful used of a weapon by a felon.
