The Trump campaign released an ad Tuesday featuring Democrats’ “disgraceful” reaction to his State of the Union address Jan. 30.
The advertisement from Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. highlighted moments from the speech when Trump touted accomplishments of his administration, all the while Democrat lawmakers refrained from clapping, showing any sort of positive reaction, and remained seated.
“President Donald Trump asked Democrats to join him in standing up for America,” the ad reads. “Instead, they just sat there … and sat there … and sat there.”
Clips in the ad featured Democratic members of Congress such as Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California, Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, and Rep. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois, all outspoken critics of the Trump administration.
A moment from the address when the audience broke out into a “USA” chant after Trump honored those who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces was also included, accompanied by images of military members clapping and military wives and families getting emotional.
“Disrespecting our people. Disrespecting out country. It’s disgraceful,” the ad concluded of the Democrats' reaction.
