ATV operator pushes son to safety as vehicle rolls over

PELHAM, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says an ATV operator pushed his son to safety after the vehicle struck a rock on a steep hill, rolled over and landed on top of him.

Conservation officers say 43-year-old Nathan Brown, of Pelham, was taken to a hospital on Tuesday to be treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The accident happened on his property.

They say as Brown began to feel the ATV begin to roll over, he was able to push his son out. Brown was thrown from the ATV down the hill before it landed on him.

Both were wearing helmets and eye protection. Officers are still investigating, but say it appears inexperience and the steep terrain contributed to the accident.
