Indore: Crime Round-up: 3 booked for abetting suicide

Indore: Police booked three persons from Kolkata for abetting suicide of a man in Chhoti Gwaltoli area on Monday. According to police, 40-year-old cotton broker Ravindra Joshi, a resident of Jawra Compound, set self on fire at Regal Square on November 18, 2016 and died while undergoing treatment in MY Hospital.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had supplied cotton worth Rs 9 crore to a Kolkata-based cotton mill owned by Pavan Patodiya, Mayank Patodiya and Anil. As the accused refused payment the troubled victim committed suicide, police said.
A police team will soon head to Kolakata to arrest the accused. In another incident, police booked two persons for abetting suicide of a woman in Kanadiya area on Monday. The 27-year-old deceased Gayatri Patel committed suicide by immolating self near Anand Heritage building at Kanadiya Road on November 9, 2017.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased’s husband Akhilesh Patel, a resident of Chauhan Nagar, was having an extra marital affair with their neighbour Laxmi Arya. When the victim opposed, the accused physically and mentally harassed her forcing her to take the extreme step.
Woman thrashed by four
Police booked four persons for thrashing a woman following an altercation at Indra Nagar in Malharganj area on Monday. According to police, complainant Sarita Pardeshi alleged that accused Shankar Bagela was demanding money for some personal reason and on refusing the accused abused and thrashed her with a wooden stick causing severe injuries to her head on Sunday night. However, when the victim’s daughter-in-law Pooja and sister-in-law intervened, the accused– Shivani, Jhumri and Radha– thrashed them.
Man beaten up over monetary dispute
A 48-year-old man was thrashed by another person following an altercation over some monetary dispute near Tower Square in Bhanwarkuan area on Monday. According to police, complainant Ashok Thakur, a resident of Annapurna area, alleged that accused Akash Pal, a resident of Palda, verbally abused him over some monetary dispute. The victim tried to stop the accused when the latter thrashed Ashok with a wooden stick causing severe head injuries.
