After IMD advisory, Maha asks farmers to brace for hailstorms

Taking a serious note of the Meteorological Department's advisory, the government asked the farmers in the state today to be prepared for hailstorm-like situation from February 10. The India (IMD) issued an advisory today stating that hailstorm-like situation may develop over parts of The Met officials made it clear that it was not a warning, but an advisory issued at a very primary stage. The officials said that nonetheless the farmers need to be cautioned about it in advance. "The system is developing and it may lead to hailstorm from February 10 onwards till February 14 in Marathwada and Vidarbha.

This type of rains could cause heavy losses and damages to the properties and cattle," a said. The Met advisory predicted that on February 10, hailstorm-like situation may develop over Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Nanded, Latur and parts of Yavatmal and Amravati districts. The eastern parts may receive thurnderstorms. The situation is expected to come to normal by February 14, the Met officials said.
