The Masmovil group dominated Spain’s mobile portability figures in January, a month that saw Spain’s three leading mobile operators shed a net total of over 100,000 lines, according to data published by website movilonia.com. Masmovil’s main brand gained a total of 24,500 lines, while its Yoigo, Pepephone and LlamaYa brands added 25,800, 10,200 and 5,400 lines respectively for a net total of 65,900.

The leading triumvirate of operators all posted significant losses, led by Vodafone and Orange Spain with 50,000 and 39,000 fewer lines, somewhat offset by gains of 7,000 and 4,700 at their Lowi and Simyo discount divisions. Movistar (Telefonica) fared marginally better, with the 21,100 losses under the Movistar brand slightly offset by the 5,100 customers gained by its Tuenti unit.

Ethnic MVNO Digi Mobil gained a further 10,200 new clients in January, followed by Euskaltel’s Telecable brand with around 2,900 gains and Republica Movil with 1,500.
