SIOUX CITY – Tyler Borchers completed a Morningside comeback with a basket at the buzzer, giving the Mustangs an 84-83 Great Plains Athletic Conference men’s basketball triumph over Dakota Wesleyan Wednesday at Allee Gym.

No. 10 Morningside trailed 64-52 with 13:22 left in the game and was still down 83-77 with 1:30 remaining before scoring the game’s last seven points.

The Mustangs (20-6) remained tied with Briar Cliff for the GPAC lead at 12-4, DWU, meanwhile, slipped to 19-9 and 9-7.

Brody Egger paced a balanced Morningside ledger with 20 points as all five starters reached double figures.

Zach Imig added 19 points, Tyler Borchers 15, Matthew Hahn 14 and Alex Borchers 10.

Dakota Wesleyan’s Jason Spicer had a double-double with 26 points and 10 assists. The Tigers lost despite shooting 55.6 percent from the field. Morningside wound up at 54.2 percent and made 11 of 14 free throws, compared to 4 of 6 for DWU.
