V18 chairman posts video of youths vandalising new sculpture; appeals for information

V18 Chairman Jason Micallef has posted an appeal on Facebook, asking the public for help in identifying a number of youths who appear to have vandalised a statue which forms part of the project, "Hekk Jghid il-Malti," which translates Maltese proverbs into art.

The statue forms part of a recently installed set, and the project has caused quite a bit of debate, with many on the comments boards arguing that they are out of place, while others argue otherwise. A number of artists have also weighed in on the subject.

Micallef asked the public to inform the police or call the V18 Foundation on 2124 2018 if they are able to identify any of the youths involved. He said that the video was also sent to the police.

This is not the only case of vandalism on the statues.
