Britton Deerfield pulls away from Madison

The Sand Creek boys basketball team trailed 24-18 at halftime and 32-28 after three quarters in Tuesday’s Tri-County Conference game against Whitmore Lake.

But the Aggies got a big fourth quarter from Noah Hague to come back and beat the Trojans 52-47.

Hague scored 13 of his 26 points in that fourth quarter. Dalton Knapp added 10 points for Sand Creek, which is now 10-4 and 8-2 in the TCC.

The Aggies are back in action Friday at Clinton for another TCC matchup.

Britton Deerfield 54, Madison 49: At Britton, the Patriots pulled away by outscoring the Trojans 33-24 in the second half.

Zac Clark led all scorers with 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Justis Kimerer scored 12 points for Britton Deerfield, which is 6-9 overall and 4-6 in the TCC. Rhett Holubik had four assists, and Dillon Sharp three steals for the Patriots.

Madison got 15 points and seven rebounds from R.J. Amison.

The Patriots and Trojans are both back on the court Friday for more TCC action, with Britton Deerfield traveling to take on Whitmore Lake, while Madison hosts Summerfield.

Ypsilanti 65, Adrian 35: At Ypsilanti, the Maples dropped the Southeastern Conference White Division game Tuesday night despite Giovanni DiBari’s double-double.

DiBari led the Maples with 17 points and 10 rebounds, but he was the only Adrian player to hit double digits in scoring. 

Payton Trevino scored eight points and pulled down six rebounds, while Dylin Lofton added four assists. 

Adrian trailed just 14-10 after the first quarter, only for the Grizzlies to reel off a 24-5 second quarter to take a 34-15 lead to half. Ypsilanti didn’t let up in the third, outscoring the Maples 18-5 to take a 56-20 lead into the final frame of play.

Adrian is back in action Friday at Dexter.

Dundee 47, Hudson 27: At Dundee, the Tigers were unable to stay with the Vikings in their Lenawee County Athletic Association clash on Tuesday night.

The Tigers did not get a player into double digits in points, as Jon Ladd was Hudson’s leading scorer with eight points, along with pulling down a team-high eight rebounds, two steals and two assists.

Andrew Valdez added six points, while Drew Marry added four rebounds for the Tigers.

Hudson fell behind 11-5 after the first quarter and was outscored 16-2 in the second quarter, putting the Tigers down 27-7 at halftime. 

The Tigers will host Columbia Central on Thursday. 

Summerfield 60, Morenci 38: At Petersburg, the Morenci offense managed just two points in the first quarter and never recovered, losing on the road in the TCC matchup.

Garrett Benjamin scored 20 points for Morenci (4-11, 4-6 TCC).

Morenci plays on Friday, hosting TCC foe Whiteford. 

Whiteford 77, Clinton 41: At Ottawa Lake, the Bobcats remained unbeaten in the TCC by putting four players in double figures.

Clinton’s Mitchell Drabicki scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers to lead his team.  Collin Stapnowski contributed eight points for Clinton (5-9, 4-6 TCC).

The Redskins are at home Friday for another TCC matchup against the Aggies of Sand Creek.
