Reports have been received in relation to a fatal incident where a husband stabbed his 25-year-old wife and 45-year-old mother-in-law to death as a consequence of a family altercation.

The incident took place last night(Feb.06).

The husband and his wife have been living in Habaraduwa area and the wife has shifted to her mothers place in Poddala because of the domestic dispute.

Poddala Police said that the husband followed his wife to Poddala and attacked both his wife and mother-in-law, stabbing them to death.

At the time of the attack, the couple's children have been present at the house.

The husband has fled the scene of the crime.

Investigations are being carried out by the police.
