Brendan Buck, who serves as Ryan's chief communications adviser, wrote on Twitter that Pelosi deserved "legit props" for her speech in support of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients.
"Legit props for the endurance," Buck tweeted late Thursday, hours after Pelosi had resisted calls from Ryan to end her speech.

Buck is one of Ryan's closest aides and has served on the Republican leader's staff since his failed vice presidential run alongside Mitt Romney

Other Twitter users also spoke out in support of Pelosi's marathon speech, and the hashtag #GoNancyGo was the top trend in the United States and Washington, D.C., on Twitter for hours on Thursday.
House members cannot filibuster, as the House floor is tightly controlled by the majority. However, three members of House leadership, including the minority leader, have rights to unlimited speaking time on the floor.
On Thursday, Pelosi's lengthy speech in support of DACA recipients set the record for the longest recorded speech on the floor of the House of Representatives, passing the previous record of five hours and 15 minutes set by former Speaker Champ Clark (D-Mo.) in 1909.
"Our 'Dreamers' hang in limbo, with a cruel cloud of fear and uncertainty above them. The Republican moral cowardice must end," the Democratic leader said Thursday, using a term commonly used to refer to immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children, some of whom are protected under DACA.
"I'm going to go on as long as my leadership minute allows," she added.
