The South Hadley girls basketball team kept close in the Suburban league with a 53-25 win over Belchertown on Tuesday.
The Tigers’ league record sits at 4-1, one game behind Hampshire, which is unbeaten in the league.
Mia Kelly scored 14 points, while Alexa Blaney had 12 for South Hadley (12-3, 4-1 Suburban). Elise Pikul and Catherine Mastalerz each had seven points to pace Belchertown (5-12, 1-4).
Northampton 64, Holyoke 42 — The Blue Devils jumped out to a 23-point lead at halftime and never looked back. Amanda Mieczkowski led Northampton (13-2, 3-2 Valley) with 16 points, and Emily Sledzieski finished with 10.
Frontier Regional 51, Athol 45 — Lexa Boyden scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds on the road for the Red Hawks.
Celia Speth led Frontier (13-4, 4-1 Franklin North) with seven rebounds to go with her six points.
Ella Deane added 10 points, while Walker dished out eight assists with five rebounds.
Amherst 43, Sabis 26 — The Hurricanes (7-10, 3-2 central) comfortably handled the Bulldogs behind 16 points from Erin Klaes and 12 points from Petua Mukimba.
Madison Layers added 12 rebounds to go along with six points in the home victory.
Smith Academy 48, Mohawk 42 — Going into the final quarter with an eight-point lead, the Falcons (11-6, 4-1 Franklin West) held on at home.
Emma Kelly (18 points, 10 rebounds), Hannah Rickert (10 points, 12 rebounds) and Karli Guimond (11 points) paced the offense.
Renaissance 59, Smith Vocational 24 — Sydney Cyr finished with 12 points, 10 blocks and five rebounds as the Vikings (5-11) lost at home.
Granby 51, Monson 44 — Nora Young’s 20-point, 11-rebound, three-block performance powered the Rams (12-4, 5-0 Central). Granby also received steady efforts from Kaeleigh Croteau who had 10 points and Mallory Beauregard who had nine points and 10 rebounds.
McCann Tech 48, Easthampton 44 — Lily Pioli and Rachael Robinson each had 15 points in the loss for the Eagles (4-9).
Mahar 46, Hopkins Academy 40 — Samantha Jenks scored 11 points, as the Golden Hawks fell on the road.
Jenks needs 15 points for 1,000 in her career. Hopkins (7-10, 0-5 Franklin North) hosts Athol at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Ally Markowski added eight points, while Gabby Palmisano scored seven.
Franklin Tech 39, Gateway 20 — Trailing 21-20 at the end of three quarters, the Gators (9-8) were shut out 18-0 in the fourth and lost at home. Megan Wright contributed seven points in the setback.
Palmer 47, Hampshire 42 — Eight missed free throws in the first quarter plagued the Raiders, as they outscored Palmer in every other quarter but could not overcome the 7-of-19 performance at the free-throw line. David Helems led the Hampshire (5-11, 2-2 Bi-County East) with 19 points.
Pittsfield 64, Hopkins 58 — The trio of Jon Morrison (19 points and 11 rebounds), John Earle (17 points), and Justin CIaglo (17 points) led the Golden Hawks (15-2) in a road loss.
It snapped a 13-game winning streak for Hopkins.

Woodstock Academy 7, South Hadley 4 — Ben Watkins tallied four points on two goals and two assists in a home loss.
Michael Mazza added two assists and a goal.
Will Ortyl found the net for the Tigers (4-9-2), while Ryan Tucker, Sean Doherty and Trevor Ouimet had assists.
Anthony Cigal stopped 25 shots. South Hadley gave up four goals in the third period.
Frontier Regional’s Coriann Delaney took second in the girls slalom, finishing in 36.74 seconds at Berkshire East.
Jessica Garriepy of Gateway crossed the line in 39.91 for seventh.
In the boys giant slalom, Northampton’s Nate Jones was eighth in 25.49.
