After entering the 300 crore club, Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s magnum opus Padmaavat has been on a massive run at the box-office and is achieving new milestones with each passing day. After much difficulty, the film released on January 25 and has completed over two weeks at the box office, gathering much appreciation, especially it’s leading actors – Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor – for the portrayal of their respective characters in the film. The film is doing wonders at the box office. The film has earned Rs 6 crore yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 225.50 crore at the domestic box office.
Earlier today, film Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to his social media handle to share the official collection of this blockbuster movie, he wrote, “#Padmaavat is SUPER-STRONG… [Week 2] Fri 10 cr, Sat 16 cr, Sun 20 cr, Mon 7 cr, Tue 6 cr. Total: ₹ 225.50 cr. India biz.” Despite the film being surrounded by countless controversies, it is still inviting moviegoers. Though some states barred filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial, receiving less number of screens, the film has turned out to be a huge success at the box office. Ranveer has been showered with a lot of love and appreciation for his portrayal of Alauddin Khilji in the film; Deepika and Shahid too were praised for their performances in the film. Bhansali’s period drama, that has raked in Rs 225.50 crore at the box office, has definitely turned out to be a huge turning point for the actor. At the age of 32, Ranveer has become the youngest actor in Bollywood to have entered the Rs 200 crore club at the domestic box office, thanks to Padmaavat.
Speaking of Padmaavat being his first Rs 200 crore grosser, the much elated Ranveer had told an online portal, “From playing one of my most challenging character(s) ever to notching my first 200 crore grosser, this film has already given me so many overwhelming, emotional and humbling memories.” Watch this space for further updates.
