U.S. Rep. Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, and U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Urbana, will both face opposition this year in their respective re-election bids.
It will start this spring when each of them seeks the Republican nomination in May for their respective congressional seats.
Hoping to unseat Latta in the May primary are Van Wert County Commissioner Todd Wolfrum and Robert Kreienkamp, of Wayne, a retired television studio engineer at Bowling Green State University and retired dairy farmer.
Wednesday was the deadline for candidates to file petitions.
Two Democrats will square off in May for their party’s nomination to challenge the Republican nominee in November. The Democratic hopefuls are James Neu Jr., of Perrysburg, a Toledo machining plant employee, and J. Michael Galbraith, of Maumee, who owns an investment management business.
Latta represents the 5th Congressional District, which includes Hancock, Wood, Putnam, Hardin, Henry, Wyandot, Fulton, Defiance, Williams, Van Wert and Paulding counties; and part of Mercer, Ottawa and Lucas counties.
Jordan, who represents the 4th Congressional District, will face opposition from Joseph Miller, of Marion, in May for the GOP nomination.
Four people will be vying for the Democratic nomination in May: Janet Garrett, of Oberlin; Norbert G. Dennerll Jr., of Elyria; Leah Sellers, of Marysville; and Cody Slatzer-Rose, of New Albany.
The 4th Congressional District includes Seneca, Allen, Sandusky, Union, Shelby, Auglaize, Logan, Crawford and Champaign counties; and part of Marion, Huron, Lorain, Erie and Mercer counties.
