An area man has been arrested and charges are pending after authorities say he fled from police Saturday morning.
Desloge Police Chief James Bullock said one of his officers was called to the 100 block of Cherry St. at 9:48 a.m. Saturday after a landlord went to a home to collect rent.
“The 53-year-old renter went ballistic on them when they attempted to collect the rent,” said Bullock. “When my officer arrived he was talking to the man through the door and he wouldn’t let the officer inside. The landlord was also standing there. The door was just cracked open and the landlord saw through the house and saw the man run out the back door.”
Bullock said after the man ran out the back door, the officer chased him. The man stopped and took a fighting stance. When the officer pulled out his Taser he took off running again. The officer tased him and took him into custody.
“The man had a bag of crystal methamphetamine on him and meth pipe,” said Bullock. “The guy continued to threaten that he was going to get the officers and was threatening to harm them. The subject admitted to having used meth ..."
Bullock added the man also damaged the patrol car by scraping the handcuffs across the door tearing it apart.
“He also kept threatening one of the officers saying when he got out he was going to find him and cause him harm,” said Bullock. “He didn’t threaten to kill him, but was threatening to hurt him.”
Bullock said they are seeking charges of possession of a controlled substance, assault in the third degree, property damage in the second degree, resisting and interfering with arrest and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
