What A Wonderful World At Armstrong Annual Gala!
The Louis Armstrong House Museum tells the story of the extraordinary life and career of one of the greatest musicians in history. They have welcomed more than 100,000 visitors from around the world to the wonderful world of Louis Armstrong, and are continuing to grow.
Their visitor-ship is increasing, they have broken ground on their brand new Education Center, and the “Armstrong Museum Family” is growing, as seen at the Gala.
Honorees Wycliffe Gordon and the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation shared how Louis continues to shape their work today. The museum celebrated the 50th Anniversary of “What A Wonderful World” with a moving performance of Louis’s song from Wycliffe Gordon & His International All Stars, Conductor Earl McIntyre, and the Interschool Orchestras of New York Wind Symphony. The museum was pleased to also pay tribute to the LAHM Executive Director, Michael Cogswell, who will be retiring this year, for all he has achieved on behalf of the museum and Louis’ legacy.
“Thank you, once again, to all those who helped make last night a memorable success! If you’d like to continue helping us share the life and legacy of Louis Armstrong please visit us at LouisArmstrongHouse.org or come see us soon at Louis and Lucille’s home in Corona!” concluded the Louis Armstrong House Museum administration and staff.
