We are leaving the European Union and I accept the result of the referendum. However, the referendum did not tell us how the leave the European Union.
On all sides of the House we are agreed that we need an exit and a deal which allows us to trade freely with the EU, opportunity for the UK to sign new free trade agreements and provides a level of economic certainty to businesses and citizens. I believe joining Efta could achieve this. Indeed, this is an option that was consistently supported by Brexiteers before and during the referendum!
The hard Brexit camp have begun a project fear of their own against Efta by repeating numerous misconceptions. Efta does not envisage political integration; it is economically motivated, it does not issue legislation, it does not establish a customs union and decisions are made by unanimity.
