Light snow, freezing rain and sleet are making for a hazardous morning commute across New Jersey, and drivers are urged to use caution of ice-glazed roads.

A mix of light snow and freezing rain should changeover to rain by mid-afternoon Wednesday, but until then ice could build up on power lines and trees in addition to roads.

Low visibility from fog and mist is added to travel woes in some areas.

Temperatures should rise to the low 40s in the afternoon, easing the hazardous conditions.

As much as 6 inches of snow is expected in northwestern New Jersey; as much as 4 inches could fall in the Morristown area, and less than an inch should fall in Paramus, Newark and Trenton.

Temperatures are expected to plummet overnight into Thursday, which is expected to be sunny and cold.
