Mumbai: Mumbai police have arrested four youth for failed attempt to rob an ATM machine of State Bank of India (SBI) in Andheri (west). Based on the technical evidences all the four accused — Amir Sherkhan Shaikh (22), Chandrashekhar Bhimrao Khandare (20), Raj Prahlad Karotiya (25) and Dharmesh Purushottam Bariya (20) – were arrested by Malwani police on January 27 and were handed over to Versova police.

They had entered the ATM kiosk with a heavy metal object to smash the ATM kiosk to loot cash from it. “All of them had covered the face with handkerchief but the CCTV camera installed above the kiosk captured them smashing the kiosk. Despite repetitive attempts the robbers could not manage to get the access of cash tray of kiosk. While they were landing blows on the machine, one of them heard a sound outside ATM booth. They got scared and left the place after packing up immediately,” said an officer attached to Versova police station where the case was registered.
