4 killed in road mishaps in two districts

At least four persons were killed and seven injured in separate road accidents in two districts- Comilla and Sirajganj, on Monday.
COMILLA: Two persons including a woman were killed in two separate road accidents here on Monday.
They were identified as Taslima Akhter, 29, wife of Hannan Mia, of Shahdaulatpur Village under Burichong Upazila and motorcyclist Hanif Mia, 25, son of late Suruj Mia, of Baburchi Village under Chowddagram Upazila of the district.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Burichong Police Station Monoj Kumar Dey said a Chittagong-bound passenger bus hit Taslima Akhter while she was crossing the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Kalakachua area under Burichong Upazila about 2 pm, leaving her dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for an autopsy.
On the other hand, a Chittagong-bound truck hit a motorcycle on the same highway at Gholpasha area under Chowddagram Upazila about 1 pm, leaving motorcyclist Hanif Mia dead on the spot, said Chowddagram PS OC Abul Faisal.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to CMCH morgue for an autopsy.
Police seized the truck, but its driver and helper managed to escape.
Two separate cases were filed with respective police stations.
SIRAJGANJ: Two persons were killed and seven injured in four road accidents near Bangabandhu Bridge west connecting road here on Monday.
Police and Sirajganj General Hospital sources said a Dhaka-bound microbus hit Abdul Momin, 19, an HSC student of Belkuchi Degree College and son of Abdul Khaleq, of Garamoshi Village under Belkuchi Municipality when he was crossing the road at Mulibari crossing area about 12pm, leaving him seriously injured.
Local people rushed him to the hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
On the other hand, at least eight persons were injured in three separate accidents on the road in the morning.
The injured were rushed to the same hospital where Sabbir Hossen, 25, son of Abdur Rahim, of Hatia Village under Hatiabandha Union in Sakhipur Upazila of Tangail was declared dead.
Bangabandhu Bridge West PS OC Md Daud confirmed the accidents.
