Perhaps it's his Italian heritage, but Mark Minichiello fancies himself as something of a masterchef.

Whenever there's been a cooking competition in recent years at Hull FC , Minichiello has been front and centre making pizzas or taking over the cooking duties at restaurants for fans' evenings.

Now the 36-year-old Black and Whites' forward has taken his abilities to the world stage. Well, Australia. Back on home soil for Hull's Super League game with Wigan Warriors in Wollongong on Saturday, Minichiello and his team-mates attended the Kiama Farmers' Market on Wednesday after training and joined in with the local festivities.

For Minichiello that meant taking part in the local annual prawn peeling contests, where among others he faced off against the Illawarra champion. The result was a convincing victory for the FC second-rower who will no doubt be dining out on his success for days to come.

FC players were given a warm welcome by the Kiama locals at the event, with the players having already made themselves feel at home in the local community.
