Australia vs England: Glenn Maxwell’s century takes Australia to 5-wicket victory

Glenn Maxwell hammered 103 runs in 58 balls and also took 3 wickets earlier. His allround performance sealed an easy 5-wicket victory for Australia.

Australia beat England by 5 wickets. Glenn Maxwell hammered a ton to take Australia to victory.

Coming in to chase the total of 156 runs, Australia had a terrible start after they lost David Warner for 4 and Chris Lynn for a duck in the first over of David Willey. Taking the onus on themselves, Glenn Maxwell and Darcy Short launched a fiery counterattack and took their side to 44/2 in 5 overs. In search of wickets, England skipper Eoin Morgan appointed Adil Rashid to bowl. Seeing a spinner on the bowling end, gave Maxwell a chance to flex his muscles as he hammered him off back-to-back sixes in his first over. Rashid came back strongly in his next over, dismissing Darcy Short for 30 with an easy caught and bowled. He bowled a maiden wicket over with Glenn Maxwell approaching his fifty. Marcus Stoinis who came to replace Darcy Short and tool his time to get off-the-mark. Maxwell went on to complete his 3rd T20I fifty as he put Australia on course to victory. Stoinis gave away his wicket, being dismissed by Mark Wood for 6. Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head took Australia to 117/5 in 15 overs. Willey dismissed Travis Head for 6. Maxwell hammered 103 runs in 58 balls to take his side to victory by 5 wickets.
