Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Monaco's Thomas Lemar, after the 22-year-old attacker turned down a new contract at the French club.
Jurgen Klopp had wanted to bring in the winger this January due to the decision to sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, but Monaco were completely unwilling to let him go in the middle of the season, after a summer that saw their 2017 title-winning team stripped apart.
It is still seen as inevitable that Lemar will go at some point, and his unwillingness to sign a new deal weakens Monaco's position. Liverpool are likely to return in the summer, having had a £78m bid rejected in 2017.

1/22 Loris Karius 8 out of 10
Had little to do in the first half but commanded his box well and made sensible saves when called upon. Stood strong to deny Harry Kane from the spot, on his first attempt, by staying in the middle.

2/22 Trent Alexander-Arnold 7
On the ball Alexander-Arnold was adventurous and precise with his passing. He picked up a yellow card in the first half with a high tackle of Davies but largely defended well.

3/22 Virgil Van Dijk 6
A relatively assured defensive performance. Conceded a late penalty which allowed Spurs to draw level.

-
4/22 Dejan Lovren 6
Read the game well and made some important interceptions in dangerous areas. Appeared comfortable alongside Van Dijk and could be his long-term partner.

-
5/22 Andy Robertson 6
Struggle to get forward and influence the game in an attacking way like we’ve seen in Liverpool’s last couple of games.

-
6/22 Emre Can 6
Another confident performance after his man-of-the-match display against Huddersfield.

-
7/22 Jordan Henderson 6
Really commanded the midfield and broke up play when Spurs looked to burst forward. Still appears to be struggling for fitness and only lasted 65 minutes.

-
8/22 James Milner 6
Found a player in red with most of his set pieces and was tidy in possession all game.

-
9/22 Mohamed Salah 9
Pounced on Dier’s loose pass to score his 20th goal of the season with a cool finish. Sublime second goal.

-
10/22 Roberto Firmino 7
He made it very hard for any of the Tottenham defenders to pick him up with constant movement across the back line.

-
11/22 Sadio Mane 6
Often slowed the game down a little and wanted too many touches on the ball in attacking areas. Replaced after 65 minutes.

-
12/22 Hugo Lloris 5
Appeared to misread Salah’s intentions and guessed wrong when trying to dive before the Liverpool forward struck into the corner.
Getty
-
13/22 Kieran Trippier 6
Got forward well but struggled to contain Salah, no shame in that but he often looked lost.
Getty
-
14/22 Jan Vertonghen 6
Had a tricky afternoon with the Liverpool forwards interchanging along the Spurs back line.
Getty
-
15/22 Davinson Sanchez 5
Looked lost and struggled to deal with Salah and Firmino’s movement and speed.
Getty
-
16/22 Ben Davies 6
Was rash in a few challenges and lucky to not pick up a yellow card for a collection of fouls.
Getty
-
17/22 Eric Dier 5
Tired to dispossess Mane but inadvertently played Salah through on goal who went onto score.
Getty
-
18/22 Mousa Dembele 5
Frequently lost the ball in the midfield and surprisingly struggled to make an impact in the game. He tested Karius from range in the first half but that was about it going forward.

-
19/22 Christian Eriksen 6
Barely got involved in the first half and his creative eye was badly missed. Improved after the break but needed to get on the ball more often.

-
20/22 Dele Alli 5
Like Spurs he was quiet in the first half but improved after the break. He got on the ball and his one-touch passes created some good chances. Booked for diving when he was in a good position in Liverpool’s penalty area.

-
21/22 Son 6
Might have scored but for a good save when he raced through on goal and tried to poke the ball beyond Karius.
Getty
-
22/22 Harry Kane 7
Touched the ball four times in the first 25 minutes. He fed off scraps but his limited movement didn’t make things easy for the midfielders behind him. Had the chance to win it for Spurs but his nervous penalty was hit straight at the goalkeeper. Made up for his first penalty by scoring his second under extraordinary pressure.

Arsenal similarly had interest at that point and almost signed Lemar late on August in a deal that could have then allowed Alexis Sanchez to go to Manchester City, but the player got cold feet. It is understood his favoured destination remains Anfield.
