The Institute of Medical Physics and Biophysics of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin seeks a highly motivated and experienced researcher with strong interest in integrative structural biology. The institute offers an international and stimulating research environment. One of our current research areas is the structural analysis of macromolecular machines in the cell with the goal of understanding their structure, function and regulation on the molecular level. Three dimensional cryo-electron microscopy has been our primary method of investigation for many years. Today, this method enables atomic-resolution structure determination of large proteins or RNA-protein complexes. In close national and international collaboration, our research areas include gene expression, protein biosynthesis, translational control, signal transduction and membrane scaffolds. Depending on experience, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to initiate and carry out independent research projects and to apply for independent grants.
