Washington Huskies coach Chris Petersen did not meet with reporters Wednesday but the school issued a release regarding the program’s latest additions on National Signing Day.

The Huskies closed out the 2018 cycle by grabbing four-star defensive back Julius Irvin and four-star defensive tackle Tuli Letuiligasenoa. UW missed out on four-star defensive end Jeremiah Martin, who opted to sign with Texas A&M earler in the day.

As of 11:45 a.m., the Huskies’ 21-member class is the No. 2 class in the Pac-12 and the No. 9 class nationally, per 247. USC made a late surge to take the top spot in the conference and fourth-best class in the nation.

Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, USC, Clemson, Penn State, Oklahoma, Alabama, UW and Notre Dame are the programs 247 considers to have the Top 10 recruiting classes. Even if the Huskies fell out of the Top 10, it would still remain as the best class they’ve signed under Petersen and in the modern recruiting era.

UW also included Jacob Eason on the release of new players. Eason, a Lake Stevens native, is transferring from Georgia. He’ll sit out the 2018 season and will be eligible to play for the Huskies in 2019.

“We feel very positive about this group,” Petersen said in a release about Eason and UW’s two signees. “Our staff did a lot of homework and research, and we believe that all of these guys are not only excellent players, but also good fits for our culture.”

Irvin, who is listed at 6-foot-1 and 177 pounds, Southern California power Servite of Anaheim wtih 52 tackles and five interceptions in his final season.

He’s one of three defensive backs the Huskies grabbed in 2018. UW also signed three-star cornerback Dominique Hampton and four-star cornerback Kyler Gordon.

The Huskies won the race for Irvin on Jan. 31 after fending off the Crimson Tide and Trojans for his services.

Letuligasenoa, who committed to USC last spring, selected UW late Monday evening. The 6-foot-1 and 338-pound Letuligasenoa missed the first part of his senior year at Concord (Calif.) De La Salle because of injury.

He led De La Salle to an 11-2 mark and the CIF North Coast Section title.

An Under Armour All-American, he gave the Huskies their first true defensive tackle in the class. UW signed composite four-star offensive lineman Sam Taimani but the Huskies are going to move him to the defensive line.

In all, the Huskies signed four defensive linemen and enter next season with 12 on the roster.

Eason was a player many schools, including Washington, wanted when he was a star at Lake Stevens High. He threw for 3,585 yards and 43 touchdowns in his final year.

By then, he’d already committed to Georgia and its coach Mark Richt. UGA, shortly after, parted ways with Richt and brought in Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart.

Eason started as a freshman and led Georgia to an eight-win season.

He started the 2017 season as the team’s starter but suffered an injury in the first quarter of the season. Eason was replaced by true freshman quarterback Jake Fromm.

Fromm became the starter and led UGA to the College Football Playoff final where it lost to Alabama in overtime.

UW is expected to add Seattle O’Dea running back Jamyn Patu as a walk-on. Patu rushed for 2,181 yards and 28 touchdowns as a senior.

Patu tweeted earlier in the day he would be signing with the Huskies. NCAA rules prevent the school from commenting on a player who has yet to sign.
