Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki on Tuesday said that National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a powerful platform for inculcating the spirit of nationalism in the youth at an early age.
Addressing the NCC Cadets in a programme here, he congratulated the cadets on securing first place in Republic Day Parade and said that they have brought laurels to the state by securing first place, fourth time in a row, in Republic Day Parade. NCC song “Hum Sab Bharatiya Hain...” awakens the spirit of nationalism,where Himalayas are described as Head of India, he added.
The Governor announced to give additional cash award of Rs 11,000 to each cadet who participated in the parade. In total, each cadet would get cash award of Rs 22,000. There are 15 lakh NCC cadets from all over the country, out of which, 34,000 are from Haryana, said the Governor.
Education Minister, Ram Bilas Sharma said that the State government is planning to make NCC mandatory for every student in all colleges in Haryana. Remembering Martyr Capt Kapil Kundu and Martyr Lance Naik Satish Kumar, he said that we are proud of brave sons of India.
NCC Additional Director General, Maj. Gen. R S Mann congratulated the young cadets on their achievement. Those present included Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Jyoti Arora, Deputy Director, Cadet Corps, Arun Joshi and other officers.
