PORTLAND – The Shamrocks of Portland St. Patrick played host to CMAC opponent Fowler, in a game played, Tuesday, Feb. 6. The Shamrocks claimed the victory 44-32 to move their CMAC record to 5-3. The Shamrocks have yet to face off in league games against Dansville or Potterville, so there is plenty of basketball left before the playoffs.

St. Patrick came out quickly in the game, claiming the lead, and never giving it up. Throughout the game, the Shamrocks led by between four to eight points, assuring their fans they had the game in-hand. In the fourth, the Shamrocks really opened up the game, claiming the game by 12 points, with a 44-32 score.

Katie Coyne led the Shamrocks with 12 points on the night. She was followed by Lainey Schrauben, who tallied 11 points and eight rebounds.

“Overall we played pretty well,” said Shamrock coach Al Schrauben after the game. “We just didn't put the ball in the basket from in close in the first half, with more improvement in the second.”

The Shamrocks travel to Saranac, Friday, Feb. 9, to take part in their special installment of the Purple Game. St. Patrick will be looking to claim another victory against Saranac, after topping them in the beginning of January by a 47-34 score. Tip off is slated for 6 p.m.
