The former X Factor star joined Rochelle Humes and Tom Fletcher as judges on tonight’s nail-biting live show, which decided the UK’s entrant in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.
Rylan, 29, couldn’t hide his excitement as he took his pride of place, but hundreds of viewers flocked to Twitter to ask: “What is Rylan doing there?”
As hosts Mel Giedroyc and Måns Zelmerlöw introduced the popular host, Rylan explained: “Everyone’s got their favourite.
He added: “The performance everyone is doing tonight has changed our minds tonight.”

“Why the hell is Rylan at #EurovisionYouDecide,” moaned one audience member.
Another agreed: “Why Rylan what does he know about music ...Eurovision Superfan sheesh #EurovisionYouDecide.”
“I understand why Tom Fletcher & Rochelle Humes are the judges, but why’s Rylan’s one?! Still love him but…,” wrote a third, which was followed by: “I see that @bbceurovision could not get Conchita to come, so they got Rylan in the panel instead.
However, the This Morning star immediately proved his position on the programme straight after Raya’s performance of Crazy.

He beamed: “Your voice is great, the song is great, it reminded me of Sertab Everyway That I Can in the background, that beat.”
And viewers took an immediate U-turn as Rylan’s credentials as judge were sealed.
“Anyone dissing Rylan right now needs to sit right down,” tweeted one fan. “The man just mentioned Sertab's #Eurovision banger Every Way That I Can. He's a TRUE FAN.”

One more said: “Rylan just referenced Sertab. What was that about him not being a decent panellist? He's one of us.”

Also in tonight’s action-packed show, host Måns Zelmerlöw took a huge swipe at those manning about Brexit.
The Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Lisbon on May 12.
