BRENTWOOD — Two police officers are being credited with saving a German shepherd dog from an unfortunate encounter with a fence Saturday.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. Feb. 3, officers Jared Arsenault and Kenneth Gauthier responded to a Bartlett Road residence for a report of a dog that impaled itself on a metal fence, police said. The dog was reportedly stuck on the fence and his owner was attempting to free him without success.

The officers arrived on scene, and with the assistance of the dog’s owner, were able to free him. The German shepherd, named Bruno, was transported to Veterinary Emergency & Surgery Hospital in Brentwood.

Bruno underwent emergency surgery and is reportedly doing very well. He is expected to be released from the hospital Tuesday.
