Market Now: BSE Midcap index outperforms benchmark Sensex
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Tata Motors and Dr Reddy's Labs were leading the Sensex index.
NEW DELHI: The BSE Midcap index was outperforming benchmark Sensex in Wednesday's trade.

At 10:55 hours, the BSE Midcap index was 0.99 per cent up at 16,443, while the BSE Sensex was 0.08 per cent up at 34,224. The NSE Nifty50 was 0.19 per cent up at 10,518.

Shares of Bharat Electronics (up 5.23 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (up 4.33 per cent), GE T&D India (up 3.99 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech (up 3.98 per cent), Castrol India (up 3.34 per cent), Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (up 3.19 per cent), MphasiS (up 3.03 per cent), Wockhardt (up 3 per cent) and Ashok Leyland (up 3 per cent) were among the top gainers in the midcap index.

On the contrary, Vakrangee (down 5 per cent), Natco Pharma (down 4.35 per cent), Page Industries (down 1.32 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software (down 1.07 per cent) and Shriram Transport Finance Company (down 0.93 per cent) were among the losers in the index.

Equity market benchmarks opened in the green on Wednesday, but pared gains ahead of the outcome of the two-day RBI policy meet.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Tata Motors and Dr Reddy's Labs were leading the Sensex index.

However, NTPC, Hindustan Unilever and Wipro were among the top losers in the Sensex kitty of stocks.
