WATERBURY – Mr. Libero Guerrera, 63, of Waterbury, entered into the gates of heaven Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at Saint Mary’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Angela (Perugini) Guerrera.

Libero was born in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy, on Dec. 2, 1954, son of the late Rocco and Angela (Perugini) Guerrera. He loved his family and friends, gardening, hunting, soccer and playing cards.

He was also a proud and active member of the Pontelandolfo Community Club here in Waterbury. Before his retirement, Libero was employed by Albert Brothers.

Besides his wife Angela of 40 years, Libero leaves behind to cherish his memory his three children, Rocco Guerrera and his wife Michele, of Farmington, Nicholas Guerrera and his wife Cessandra, of Southbury, and Lisa Guerrera of Waterbury. He also leaves behind his two sisters, Caterina DiMangano and her husband Orazio, Antonietta D’Aloia and her husband Italo, sister-in-law Anna Maria Guerrera, all of Italy, his in-laws: Nicola and Giuseppina Perugini of Waterbury; a brother-in-law, Saverio Perugini and his wife Georgeanna, of Prospect; three grandchildren, Evan, Myles and Lucas Guerrera; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Nicola Guerrera.

Libero’s family would like to thank Dr. Caporaso, Dr. Chang and the nurses from Hartford Health Care and the staff of Xavier 3 at Saint Mary’s Hospital for all the wonderful care that they showed for him.

A funeral will be held Saturday, 8:45 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to SS. Peter and Paul Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Members of the Pontelandolfo Community Club will meet at the funeral home Friday evening at 6:30 p.m.
