February is American Heart Month

The first American Heart Month, which took place in February 1964, was proclaimed by President Lyndon B. Johnson via Proclamation 3566 on December 30, 1963. The Congress, by joint resolution on that date, has requested the President to issue annually a proclamation designating February as American Heart Month.

Share women's heart health information along with other helpful heart topic ideas.

Join us on Friday, February 16th at the Cobo Center as we Go Red and unite to prevent heart disease and stroke. Nicole Curtis of HGTV & DIY Network's Rehab Addict is this year's special guest. More information and to purchase your ticket.

Wellness opportunities for your workplace

The American Heart Association’s Healthy Workplace Food and Beverage Toolkit was created to help organizations improve their food environment and promote a culture of health. In addition to specific guidance and nutrition standards for beverages, snacks and meals, topics addressed in the toolkit include healthy eating, creating a culture of health, how leadership and management can be involved, special events, meetings, vending machines, healthier cooking methods, resources and links, and a glossary of terms. Visit www.heart.org/foodwhereur to download your copy.

The American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Solutions offer a complete suite of evidence-based tools to help you and your employees get the most out of your workplace health program. The AHA’s continuous quality improvement program will help you assess the comprehensiveness of your programs and supporting workplace environment, consult expert resources on strategies for improvement, implement programs that engage employees and track progress toward ideal heart health and recognize your achievement through awards.

Check. Change. Control. is an American Heart Association blood pressure program designed to eliminate high blood pressure as a health disparity among Americans. Its evidence-based success focuses on the practice of self-monitoring and tracking of blood pressure readings at home or outside of the healthcare provider office setting.
