National Signing Day officially arrived for the Washington, D.C. area’s top 2018 football recruits, and with it, a plethora of highly anticipated announcements.

St. John’s was planning to have a group of highly rated recruits sign their national letter-of-intent at their school on Wednesday, with five of its players landing in 247Sports’ Top 15 composite rankings for Washington, D.C. However, inclement weather caused the school day to be canceled, and with it, the ceremony. Cadets players made their announcements via Twitter throughout the day.

H.D. Woodson had two of the highest-ranked prospects in D.C., four-star running back Mychale Salahuddin and four-star cornerback Noah Boykin, and both made their college decisions on Wednesday.

North Point four-star offensive lineman Rasheed Walker, one of Maryland’s best prospects in the 2018 class, also made his decision, choosing between Penn State, Ohio State and Virginia Tech.

Multiple players reaped the benefits of not signing during the early signing period back in December, collecting more — and in some cases, more high-profile — offers. For others, the early signing period made things clearer, seeing how many spots at certain positions were taken by other recruits and where they would ultimately fit in, or be left out.

Here are the top recruits in the Washington area who will or are expected to sign — or have signed — their NLIs on Wednesday:

D.J. Brown, CB, St. John’s
Signed with Notre Dame
The Under Armour All-American is the No. 2 cornerback in D.C., according to 247Sports, and the No. 4 player in the state. The three-star narrowed down his final list to Notre Dame, California and Northwestern after decommitting from Virginia in January. By not committing early, Brown not only was able to pick up a Notre Dame offer, but also Clemson, South Carolina and Louisville before making the decision to reopen his recruitment.

Josh Jefferson, OL, St. John’s
Signed with Massachusetts
The three-star offensive guard is the No. 3 offensive lineman in D.C., according to 247Sports, and the No. 11 player in the state. An Under Armour All-American selection, Jefferson had collected offers from UMass, Buffalo, UConn, Marshall and Syracuse.

Mychale Salahuddin, RB, H.D. Woodson
Signed with Pittsburgh
The No. 1 prospect in D.C., according to 247Sports, was deciding between Syracuse and Pittsburgh after he decommitted from USC in December. The four-star running back averaged more than 10 yards per carry his senior season while scoring 12 rushing touchdowns and returning one kickoff for a touchdown.

Noah Boykin, DB, H.D. Woodson
Signed with Notre Dame
The four-star defensive back is the No. 2 player in D.C., according to 247Sports. Boykin was choosing between Notre Dame, Florida and Virginia after Boykin decommitted from Maryland at the end of January, almost less than a week after he took an official visit to Florida. He also went on visits to Virginia and Notre Dame in the fall after he had committed to Maryland in July. At 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, Boykin was an All-Met honorable mention this season.

Kevin Doyle, QB, St. John’s
Signed with Arizona
The Philadelphia native transferred to St. John’s for his senior season to give the Cadets a much-needed downfield passing game. He led them to their first Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title since 1989 by completing 61 percent of his passes and throwing for 22 touchdowns. He is the No. 23 prostyle quarterback in the country, according to 247Sports, and the No. 6 player in Washington D.C. He decommitted from Michigan on Feb. 4 and picked up offers from Arizona and Colorado State on Feb. 5.

Caleb Okechukwu, DE, St. John’s
Signed with Syracuse
A second team All-Met selection, Okechukwu is the No. 12 player in D.C., according to 247Sports. Okechukwu recorded 80 tackles, including 38 for loss, and 15 sacks during his senior season. The three-star narrowed his decision down to three schools on Wednesday: Texas, Arkansas and Syracuse, and he ultimately decided on the Orange.

Rasheed Walker, OT, North Point
Signed with Penn State 
The four-star prospect anchored an offensive line that led the Eagles to 37 points per game and their first trip to the state semifinals. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound lineman is the No. 1 offensive lineman in Maryland, according to 247Sports, and the No. 3 player in the state. Walker was making his final decision between Penn State, Ohio State and Virginia Tech.

Cam Goode, DT, St. John’s
Signed with Virginia Tech
A first-team All-Met, the 6-foot, 315-pound nose tackle stuffed runs and crashed pockets for 29 tackles for loss and 14 sacks. The three-star is the No. 5 player in D.C. and No. 40 defensive tackle prospect nationally, according to 247Sports. Goode committed to Virginia Tech back in June over offers from Virginia, Syracuse, Boston College, Rutgers among others.

Doc Bonner, QB, Quince Orchard
Signed with Air Force
A first team All-Met, Bonner led the Cougars to a second straight Maryland 4A championship game. In his senior season, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound quarterback threw for 2,259 yards and 26 touchdowns while completing 65 percent of his passes. He also ran for 789 yards and 15 more scores. Bonner was thought to have signed with Dartmouth during the early signing period, but decided to wait it out and quietly reopen his recruitment. He announced his commitment to Air Force on Jan. 17.

Jayde Pierre, DL, Dominion
Signed with Howard
The three-star defensive tackle committed to Howard on Jan. 29 and is the No. 33 recruit in Virginia, according to 247Sports. He had offers from Temple, Arizona and Boston College, among others. He was committed to Temple back in late June, but decided to decommit and reopen his recruitment.

Christian Haynes, OL, Bowie
Signed with Connecticut
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive lineman picked up his Connecticut offer on Dec. 20. He had offers from Air Force, Old Dominion, Buffalo and FIU, among others.

Eleanor Roosevelt’s Jaden Faulkner, who played quarterback and defensive back this season and was deciding between offers for both football and basketball at the collegiate level, announced Wednesday that he intends to pursue basketball in college, not football. The Post’s Jesse Dougherty profiled him last year.
