The Arts & Letters Committee of the Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will host “An Afternoon of Black History and Arts” at 2 pm. Saturday, Feb. 10.
The event will be held at Watson Chapel High School Auditorium, 4000 Camden Road.
The theme is “Life is Legacy: Celebrating Our Journey.” The event will consist of dance, live music, and poetry.
Participants from all over the city and surrounding areas will be performing, according to a news release. These include CeAnna Blunt, Dollarway High School Choir, Watson Chapel High School Choir, Taila Collins, Kaitlin Collins, Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church Praise Dancers and Donteria Willis.
Deaquanita R. Lancelin is the chairwoman. Jo Ann Davis is the co-chairwoman. Kelly D. Bryant is the president of the Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter.
“Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is a private, not-for-profit public service organization committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service efforts in local communities,” according to the release.
“The National Commission of Arts & Letters was established in 1973 by the 15th National President Lillian Benbow. The ultimate goal of the National Commission of Arts & Letters has been to boldly advance the Black Experience through arts and letters and to ferret out the contributions of African American people of the past and lift them to public attention. The Pine Bluff Alumnae chapter is committed to bringing forth those activities and events that positively promote African Americans in the Arts,” according to the release.
