SEOUL, Feb. 7 (Yonhap) -- Kia Motors Corp.'s Sorento sport utility vehicle and Soul boxcar have been selected as the winners of U.S. News & World Report's Best Cars for the Money awards, the company said Wednesday.
The Sorento SUV earned high scores for available third-row seating and a host of available driver assistance features. The Soul boxcar garnered high marks for good initial quality.
The two Kia models won the awards for the second consecutive year.
"These awards are further proof that Kia vehicles are not only fun to drive, but also couple outstanding reliability with a low total cost of ownership," Orth Hedrick, vice president in charge of product planning at Kia Motors America, said in a statement released by the carmaker.
The awards recognize vehicles across 14 categories that represent the best combination of quality and value.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings compare cars on the basis of safety, reliability and a consensus of industry experts' opinions, along with value -- which is measured by a combination of a vehicle's five-year total cost of ownership and the average price paid for the vehicle at the time the awards are published -- the statement said.
