More Cold Weather Coming To KELOLAND

Scot Mundt reports:
Sure it's been cold, but we've experienced a lot worse.  I dug into the archives and checked our cold mornings for the first ten days of February.  Here's how this year compares.

Temperatures fell below zero again this morning.  In fact, Aberdeen hasn't had a morning above zero yet this month.  The hub city's averaging 11 below for a low so far this month.  Sioux Falls is averaging 1 below.

Sioux Falls has experienced far colder temperatures during the first 10 days of February.  One year that stands out is 1994.  That's when the average low for the first ten days of the month was close to 11 degrees below zero.  The coldest was 29 below on February 9th that year.  The first 10 days of the month were below zero in 2007 for an average low of 7 below.  Other cold years include 2011 and 2014.
With our forecast lows through Saturday, Sioux Falls will be around zero for an average low for the first ten days of the month.

We do have some hope of a slight warm up in the middle of the month.  But, temps will tank again for the end of the month with cold air possible for March.
