If everything goes well, Uttar Pradesh will get a branch of Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, Mumbai, by year-end. The branch will start its Out Patient Department (OPD) and provide expert advice to cancer patients in the state. An assurance in this regard was given by a three-member team, led by Dr RA Badwe from Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, which met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow on Tuesday. The team presented a roadmap of setting up a high-class institute in Chak Ganjaria (CG) City of Lucknow.
“All departments of the institute will start working from January, 2019 while surgical and medical Oncology department will start operations from October 2019,” Dr Badwe said.
The CM has given directives to complete the construction work of the institute at the earliest and the hospital has also been asked to appoint a full-time director. “Prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and submit it to the UP government within three months,” Yogi said. Besides, a team of experts from Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital will visit Lucknow three to four times a month to provide expert advice. “This institute will provide all 26 super-speciality facilities and will link Delhi and Kolkata and work as an apex cancer institute,” the CM said.
