MANIKGANJ, Feb 6: Local people formed a human chain in front of local press club on Monday demanding capital punishment for the killers of a schoolboy Maruf Hasan Nayan.
Family sources said Hridoy and Rakib of Bandutia area chopped Nayan, a student of Manikganj Model High School, with sharp weapons on November 26, 2013, and he died the next day under treatment.
The deceased's uncle filed a murder case with Sadar Police Station. Police arrested the accused Rakib on April 5, 2015 and Hridoy on April 13, 2015.
Investigation Officer (IO) of the case and Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar Hossen submitted charge-sheet on November 30, 2015. But, the accused have been threatening the plaintiff and the witnesses after coming out of jail on bail. In this connection, IO SI Anwar Hossen submitted an investigation report on June 6, 2017.
Among others, the deceased's sister Sharmin Akhter Shova, uncle Abdullah Al Mamun, Farid Al Mahmud, maternal uncle Abul Kalam Azad, brother Mamun Hasan and classmates Sagor Ahmed and Akash Hossen also spoke at the human chain.
