— Heritage's girls basketball team dominated Rolesville 77-28 on Monday night to become the first conference champions of the Northern Athletic Conference.

Heritage jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first minute of the game, but Rolesville kept the deficit at seven to end the first quarter, trailing 14-7.

That is as close as the Huskies let the Rams get.

Heritage dominated the second stanza, scoring 18 points and holding Rolesville to just eight points. The Huskies took a 17-point lead into the halftime break.

The second half was more of the same. Heritage outscored Rolesville 22-7 in the third quarter of the game to take a substantial 32-point lead into the final quarter of the game.

The Huskies kept pouring it on the Rams in the fourth quarter. Heritage inflicted the mercy rule by taking a 40-point lead in the quarter and winning the game by 49 points.

Heritage was led by its standout juniors. Cydney Johnson scored a game high 20 points and Demi Washington scored 15 points.

Roseville did not have a double-digit scorer in the game. Naomi Lockamy scored eight points and Kashara Simpson provided six points for the Rams.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday night. Heritage will host Wake Forest and Rolesville will travel to Corinth Holders.
