Boohoo has divided opinion with one of their sexy lingerie items.

The racy set, which features a bra and pants with scallop and cage-detailing, has baffled shoppers for one particular reason.

The model has been styled with a “waspie”, which resembles a lace belt.

Many customers have speculated why this added material is there, with others asking how you’d even slip the undies on.

Fashion blogger Zoe London shared a snap of the £27 set online, captioning the image: “Um, sure? What’s the middle bit for?”

Her post soon sparked a debate, with Twitter users giving their verdict on the undies.

One said: “I’d be so knackered from wrestling this on, nobody would be touching me afterwards.”

Another asked: “How do you even get into this?”

Others suggested what the lace belt could possibly be for.

A commenter joked that it could be used to “sneak gin into festivals”, with another suggesting: “snacks”.

Another believed they’d cracked the mystery, adding: “To hide the belly button of course”.

Despite the confusion, two fashion fans were able to clear things up.

Apparently, waspies are used to enhance a woman’s figure and can also be paired with stockings and suspenders.

One Twitter user explained: “Waspies are meant for waist cinching but I doubt there’s much cinching going on with that one.”

Another said: “Waspies are for suspenders. Where are the suspender straps FFS.”
