Hot Springs Village police received several reports of scams in the past week.

Jan. 25
An officer responded to a complaint about trash cans. The officer told a resident it is permissible for trash cans to be visible from the street if they are in a carport.
An officer took a medium-sized black-and-tan dog found on Segovia Drive to the animal shelter.
After a Villager said a black dachshund ran off a Pego Circle porch and bit him, an officer cited the dog’s owner for no rabies vaccination and having a dog at large. The resident told the officer he administers a rabies vaccination himself, and would neither confirm nor deny that the dog had been at large. However, Garland County ordinance requires a rabies vaccination from a licensed veterinarian. The report said the complainant’s skin was not broken, and the officer could not observe any bite marks, or skin redness or discoloration.
Officers controlled traffic while the fire department extinguished a fire at the DeSoto Boulevard-Calella Road intersection.
After a complaint of a violent disturbance on Cuerda Way, an officer found two new residents who said they had been on their back deck talking and laughing.

Jan. 26
Police went to a domestic disturbance on Gava Lane.

Jan. 27
An officer and Garland County Sheriff’s Department deputy looked for a suspicious person who reportedly had been loitering near a vacant house on Tall Timber Trail.
After an officer stopped a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer with expired tags, the Villager was cited for driving on a suspended license.
An officer moved a dead deer lying in Balearic Road, just west of Balboa Road.
An officer helped an Arias Way resident whose dog was stuck under her porch.

Jan. 28
A gray truck with blue fenders reportedly tailgated in Balboa Gate. The truck was pulling a boat and reportedly pulled up to the Coronado boat ramp, but turned around and drove off.
An officer stood by the Highway 7 post office while a Garland County sheriff’s deputy conducted an investigation.

Jan. 29
Police investigated after a 2013 Honda CRV owned by a Cedar Lodge resident apparently hit a 2013 Lincoln MKZ owned by another resident. Damage: $500 and $200.
A man wearing camouflage was reportedly sitting down outside Danville Gate.
Vehicle collided at the intersection of Palencia Lane and Carmona Road. Damage: $2,000 and $1,000.
A silver Ford reportedly tailgated in Balboa Gate.
A Villager told police that after he used his credit card at a Midland, Michigan steakhouse, someone had tried to charge $1,021.05 at Ticketmaster and $1,500 at Neiman Marcus.
A deer that collided with a westbound vehicle on DeSoto Boulevard, near Maderas Drive, was lying down when an officer walked up. It appeared to be limping on a rear leg when it ran. The vehicle had deer hair, but no apparent damage.

Jan. 30
A small pitbull terrier-mix dog with a red collar that was found at DeSoto Dog Park was taken to the animal shelter.
A patrolling officer saw a Chevrolet Trailblazer hit a Jeep waiting at the Highway 7 traffic light. The Trailblazer had about $500 damage to the grill area, and its driver was cited for following too close[ly].
A complainant reported fireworks in the Sierra Drive area.
