Tarigami questions whereabouts of fossil recovered in Kashmir

Senior CPI(M) leader and MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today demanded an answer from the government related to the whereabouts of a 50,000-year-old mammoth fossil which was discovered from south The fossil was discovered from Galandhar in Pampore area of south in 2000, by the students of University of and later excavated by a team of experts. Raising the issue in the Legislative Assembly, Tarigami said, "After it was shifted from to Jammu, the fossil had gone missing". It has the potential to put on the map of great mammoth era, he said. Tarigami urged the government to take immediate steps to recover the rare fossil which is believed to redefine natural and climatic history and human presence in The government without delaying any further time should bring it back and hand it over to the concerned departments in Kashmir, he said.
