The INRIX Global Traffic Scorecard, which ranks the impact of traffic congestion in 1,360 cities across 38 countries, found that Los Angeles topped the list as the world’s most gridlocked city for the sixth year in a row in 2017.
Overall, cities in the U.S occupied 40 percent of the world’s 25 most congested cities. The worst corridor in the U.S was New York’s Cross Bronx Expressway, where the average driver wasted almost 5 days (118 hours) in 2017 in traffic. U.S. drivers, on average, spent an average of 41 hours in traffic congestion. In Los Angeles, drivers spent an average of 102 hours in traffic jams last year, costing drivers $2,828 each in direct and indirect costs.

INRIX Global Traffic Scorecard analyzes and ranks the impact of traffic congestion in 1,360 cities across 38 countries worldwide. Data from 300 million different sources covering over 5 million miles of road was used in the study.
