After playing six-man football with just seven boys on the roster this year, Dawson High School already knew it wouldn't have a football team next season, according to the Associated Press.

But after two students moved during Christmas break, the tiny West Texas school was left with just 18 students and the boys and girls basketball teams had just five players each.

Even with 50 percent of the school on the rosters, every player on the team had to play all four quarters of every game.

So the town of Dawson decided to combine the teams. The UIL approved of the move, as long as the new co-ed team played the boys' schedule.

The players say they go together "like peanut butter and jelly," and the 222-person town is thrilled it still gets to cheer for a team.
