"There's a major human error in your numbers. We'll make sure our legal notice is better researched," UP police said.
Taking strong objection over wrong figures quoted by Amnesty India about number of deaths due to encounters in Yogi's Uttar Pradesh government, UP police today hit back at the NGO saying it "will make sure that their legal notice is better researched."

Amnesty India had quoted that over 900 people have died in less than one year under Yogi government but later corrected the tweet saying the figure include both the injured and dead.

Quoting a National Human Rights Commission notice, Amnesty India had said: "UP police is misusing their power in the light of an undeclared endorsement given by the higher ups."

Replying to this, UP police said: "There's a major human error in ur (sic) numbers, unless U (sic) have redefined D (sic) injured & dead as alike! With due respect to the 37 dead V (sic) request you to respect the ones alive & Not declare them dead! We'll make sure our legal notice is better researched."

Taking suo motu cognizance of media reports, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had issued a notice to UP government and police related to an encounter of a 25 years old man in NOIDA.
