“It’s not the end, it’s not even the beginning of the end, but it’s time for a change.”
That’s what the guys from Columbia’s popular 2 Fat 2 Fly food truck and restaurant posted in a video on Facebook on Jan. 12.
The video says the Bluff Road restaurant and food truck will be closed “for a lil’ while longer” but that the crew will be coming back with a new venture.
Ramone Dickerson and Corey Simmons founded 2 Fat 2 Fly, specializing in chicken wings stuffed with ingredients like macaroni and cheese, or jalapeno, bacon and cheddar (Sucka Punch), or mozzarella and Italian spices with marinara and Parmesan (Chicken Parmesan). The popular food truck drew crowds wherever they landed, selling out of food within hours.
Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network ran a docuseries on the business in 2015. Dickerson was named a S.C. Chef Ambassador in 2016 and, as part of that group, prepared lunch and dinner at the James Beard House in New York City. Dickerson and Joey Thompson also did a series of Fork & Goal Game Day recipe videos for The State.
